A Look at Fuel Credit Card Offers

A Look at Fuel Credit Card Offers

MasterCard and Bloomberg issued a report in recent days that the demand in the United States for gasoline fell by 3.4%. This is the biggest drop in more than three months. The average pump price fell to $3.29 per gallon, which is down one penny and also is indicative of the lowest level since Feb. 25. Prices were 11 percent higher than a year earlier. This information is founded on credit-card swipes and cash and check payments at about 140,000 U.S. gasoline stations.

With this news, we thought we’d take a look at some of the better fuel credit card offers available today. Even though we’re still in the middle of the 2011 holiday season, many families are already planning those summer vacations. The right gas card can mean a huge savings – and the more perks it offers, the better. Take a look –

The Discover More Card

This is quite an impressive rewards card that allows up to 5% on not only your gas purchases, but restaurants and department stores too. Also for card holders, shopping through the marketplace can result in up to 20% cash back. So not only can you save on your fuel costs, but you can also stock up on all those vacation items that are “must have” in the summer months.

There’s no annual fee, no rewards redemption fees and no additional card fees should you want them. A 0% intro APR on your purchases and balance transfers can have your credit history in fine shape by the time those summer months roll around.

Chase Freedom Visa

This offer includes $200 in bonus cash back after you make $500 in purchases during your first three months. There are also bonus categories where you’ll earn 5% cash back for gas purchases and hotels – which, of course, is a great savings for those vacations. Every three months, you’re afforded new categories, too. We also like the fact that points and rewards never expire and the absence of an anuual fee makes this a strong offer definitely worth your consideration.

Discover Open Road

Another Discover credit card offer, this one includes a $150 gift certificate with your very first purchase. Plus, you’ll automatically receive a 2% discount on your fuel charges year round along with the 20% cash back bonuses that we mentioned above. An American account manager is guaranteed when you call and it’s also guaranteed that your wait is never longer than sixty seconds.

Interestingly, this is the number one complaint of consumers in all sectors. It’s these guarantees that prove why Discover is consistently ranked #1 in consumer loyalty. Other great rewards await you with this offer and there are no rewards redemption fees and no annual fee.

PenFed Platinum Visa Gas/Cash Rewards Card

This is an offer from a credit union and if you’re not already a member, joining is easy and fast. That said, you’ll especially be drawn to the low APR of 13.99% (at the time of this writing). A 5% cash back on all your gas purchases when you pay at the pump sweetens the deal, too. There’s no annual fee and no restrictions on how you earn your bonuses.

An intro rate of just 4.99% applies for the first twenty-four months. This Visa requires a good credit rating (versus other offers that require excellent credit ratings), so be sure to check your credit before you apply to ensure you get the best deals. Remember, you’re entitled to a complimentary report from all three credit bureaus once a year.

As you can see, there is no shortage of available gas credit card offers. With the economy once again on the upswing, more consumers are planning and looking forward to their vacations. A little planning can go a long way in saving money before you ever even pack that swimsuit.

As always, we encourage to carefully review the terms and conditions associated with any credit card offer. It’s your money and your credit rating and remaining proactive in preserving both only serves your financial purposes through the long haul. Also, most of these credit card offers have instant decision dynamics, so you can find out quickly if you’re approved.
