The Silver Wars

The Silver Wars

We hear a lot about the impressive benefits of a gold credit card or even black credit cards. These colors on a credit card symbolize prosperity and options. The same is true with silver or platinum credit cards. They too symbolize the good life, with many perks and benefits.

We’ve put together a few reviews of some of the more popular platinum or silver credit card offers. Take a look and see if any of these fit into your monthly budget. The perks are plentiful like their gold and black counterparts and the interest rates aren’t bad, either.

The Marriott Rewards Visa Signature Card

This Visa allows users to use their bonus points for free nights at any participating Marriott Hotel. Reach the silver elite status with exclusive benefits, along with a no annual fee the first year ($30 after the first year) and an impressive APR. This silver credit card is designed for those who travel often and who can take advantage of complimentary stays at hotels around the world. It’s issued by Chase and you’ll enjoy the protection that comes with the Visa name.

Prepay, You Say

The Vision Silver Prepaid MasterCard is designed for those who appreciate the absence of minimum balances, overdraft fees and direct deposit, but who don’t have traditional bank accounts. Card holders enjoy free direct deposit of paychecks or government checks, there’s a $0 activation fee after the rebate and your approval is guaranteed with no credit check. Unlimited purchase transactions are yours anywhere MasterCard is accepted. Other benefits include free online statements, free text message or email alerts and free transaction fees.

Silver Wings

For those who love to fly, the United Mileage Plus Signature Visa Card is ideal for earning frequent flier miles. You receive 25,000 bonus miles after your first purchase and if you wish to add someone else to your account, that earns you another 5,000 miles. No annual fee the first year ($60 after the first year) and a $50 credit on your statement after your first purchase makes this worth your consideration. You’ll also like knowing there are no limits to the number of miles you can earn. The APR is competitive, too. Finally, earn one mile for every dollar you spend on your United Visa credit card.

The Business Side of Silver

The American Express OPEN Business Platinum Card is offered to business owners and with no shortage of perks and benefits. You’ll enjoy complimentary airport club access, including the famous American Airlines Admirals Club lounges, concierge service, Business Platinum Car Rental (when you enroll in the Hertz #1 Gold Club, the Avis Preferred or the Emerald Club) and of course, you’re enrolled in the Membership Rewards First Program. No worries about pre-set spending limits, either. Finally, you receive up to $200 in airline fee credits to cover those extra expenses with the airline of your choice.

And, if it’s an American Express consumer credit card you’re looking for, be sure to check out the business platinum AMEX’s counterpart, the Platinum Card from American Express. This is another airline rewards credit card and offers a bonus 25,000 membership rewards points once you spend $1,000 in the first ninety days of opening your credit card account.

There’s another a new GLOBAL Travel Benefits that offers priority pass at select airport clubs, no foreign transaction fees and even an expedited global entry U.S. immigration pass. Like the AMEX Business card, you’ll enjoy up to $200 in airline fee credits to cover those incidentals on your airline of choice (think checked baggage fees). Finally, 24 hour, 7 day a week Platinum Card Concierge Service, exclusive upgrades and various amenities at more than 700 luxury, resort or boutique hotels around the world.

As you can see, silver definitely has its own unique perks. With a healthy selection of various silver and platinum offers, finding the right credit card for your needs is no problem. Just be sure to always read the fine print, better known as “terms and conditions.”
